3 "Pennies" for Earnings...

You might want to do some homework on these three little pennies that just might deliver so serious coins your way. During the next two weeks, On2 Technologies (ONT), Blockbuster (BBI) and Sirius XM Radio (SIRI) will be reporting earnings. Unlike large caps, these three stocks just have to meet, not even beat expectations. Additionally, if the CEO or CFO spells out a bright future, where they are repaying debt at an accelerated pace... watch out! Again, these would not be the best picks to hold. These are some pennies that could be traded even prior to the actual earnings release. SIRI and BBI especially, could run up prior to the Conference Call based on rumors and what ifs. My vote, take a quick 10 to 20 cent gain and get out fast! Those that know me best will understand this, Bulls make money, Bears make money, Pigs get slaughtered. As always, do your homework first and Happy Trading!

V-Shape Recovery

As the Stock Market surges to the best levels of 2009, I can't help but think about an article I read back in April on Forbes. Meredith Whitney warned the U.S. recession would endure and we should avoid bank stocks like the swine flu. I guess Meredith should have stayed at her cozy desk job at Oppenheimer. Meredith has started her very own financial consulting firm, where she provides research and consulting advise to individual and institutional investors. Keep in mind, she singled out our economy and blasted banks such as BAC, Bank of America. Was she right? Were we really headed towards an L shape recovery? Back on 4/6/2009 when this article hit Forbes the Dow closed down to 7,975. Today as I write this blog the Dow is surging past 9,222. A 16% gain that I hope her clients didn't miss. BAC closed at 7.48, today BAC is clicking at 14.03. Was that a double Meredith? Even the so called experts get it wrong. That's another reason I'm sticking to my trend trading!
